⇓in character⇓

PHYSICAL AFFECTION: He'll accept it if he's known a character a while, but otherwise, probably won't be very receptive.

PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Go right ahead! He'll fight back though and he's pretty tough for a little old man

ROMANCE/FLIRTING: He's 93 and his heart will forever belong to Charles and Raven, but hey, go for it if that's your thing.

SEXUAL CONTENT: Probably naw unless you're one of the mentioned characters above.

PSYCHIC ABILITIES: He's been around a psychic in his life long enough that he seems to be able to keep him from reading too much of his mind, as shown in X-men 1, but anyone who presses will find they can control him or read what he's thinking. He does have a helmet that blocks these types of powers.

MAGIC/POWERS: He's got no defenses. Go for it.

MEDICAL INFORMATION: 93 but in very good health.

OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS OR TRIGGERS: Nazis, the Holocaust or Holocaust deniers, bigotry towards minorities.

BACKTAGGING: Go right ahead. If a tag takes longer than a month to come in, then I'll likely just handwave the rest of the thread.

FOURTH WALLING: I'm comfortable with it. There's already elements of it in the films, as shown that the X-men eventually became a comic book series.

THREADHOPPING: I'm fine with it as long as everyone in the thread is communicating.

OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS/TRIGGERS: Nothing, I'm fine with just about everything.

ANYTHING ELSE: I'm in PST and generally get to tags in the evening since I work mornings 90% of the time. I try to get to them on a regular basis.

IN CHARACTER

Character Name: Erik Lehnsherr/Magneto
Canon: X-men: Days of Future Past
Canon Point: The end where he gets erased from the timeline.

In-Game Tattoo Placement: On his left leg.
Current Health/Status: He got stabbed in the stomach by a piece of shrapnel that would have killed him pretty quick at his age even if the Sentinels weren't about to.
Age: 93
Species: Human Mutant

History: Here under the section Original Timeline.

Personality: One of the best phrases that describe Erik is "well-intentioned extremist." What Erik has always strove for is to make sure mutantkind had rights and would take what he saw as their rightful place ahead of homo sapiens. He felt that mutants weren't just equal to human beings, they were better. But his methods about going to make sure this happened always are much more extreme and ultimately damaging than the more passive methods his best friend Charles Xavier wanted.

The reason he's so darn set on making sure mutants take their rightful place is because of Erik's experiences as a young boy during the Holocaust. He saw horrific events, including seeing his own mother get shot in front of him, and it taught him that if human beings couldn't even be tolerant of one another, they would never tolerate mutants.

This hardened him and his mindset definitely became one of the defining phrases after the war, "Never again." Where there had previously been an innocent boy caught up in things beyond his control was hardened into a man who would take justice into his own hands. Every scene with him when he's first met as an adult are steps taken towards revenge on those that have wronged him: killing Nazis who participated in the atrocities and torturing a bank manager who had accepted blood money built out of the gold taken from those in the concentration camps. One of the quickest ways to enrage him as a young man is to tell him people were "just following orders", the excuse many Nazis tried to use to explain away their actions.

As a young man, rage was a great motivating factor. Getting revenge on Shaw was his main goal at first until he met Charles, and indeed, his powers could be used only when he was full of anger. Meeting Charles set him down another path, broadening his horizons. Whereas before he thought he was completely alone, he now saw the benefit of having friends and allies. With his revenge near to completion, he began to think not of himself personally, but of mutantkind as a whole. He began to see himself as someone who would help lead the way and shape the future of the only people he had left. He makes his first connections towards this goal, swaying Mystique to his side after knowing her for only a short time, and taking over the Hellfire Club through a combination of charisma and a brutal show of power.

While he began to look towards the future, the experience unfortunately would forever set him at odds with his best friend Charles. Accidentally paralyzing Charles was one of the biggest regrets of his life, a physical reminder of the mental separation they went through. They could never see eye to eye, Magneto's more extremist views, and in his own words, ability "to make sacrifices" incompatible with Xavier's message of tolerance and coexistence. They did seem to have a habit of coming together and falling apart, shown in the 80s once again on the same path, but again having fallen out with each other by the 00s, likely because Erik always drifts back towards his own views eventualy.

While he has mellowed out a little with age, it's still telling that he can be quite ruthless when he wants to be. A prime example is that he kills the guard who has been abusing and mistreating him in a very painful manner, by literally ripping the iron out of his blood.

Magneto is very charismatic and easily gets people to follow him. He's never short of followers in the films, for there is someone he's always able to charm with words or sway with actions over to his side. Indeed, he's able to sway Mystique to his side after only knowing her for a short time, despite her having lived with Charles as her brother all her life. However, the loyalty he's shown isn't always repaid in kind, for when Mystique is cured by taking a shot for him, he abandons her without a second thought.

Two of Erik's biggest relationships are with Charles and Raven. In the former, he had a lifelong friend, and even if he didn't always see eye-to-eye, he always cared about and loved him. When Pyro disrespects his memory in the third movie, Erik is quick to reprimand him, stating that his one biggest regret is that Charles had to die for their dream to live. They are two sides of the same coin, Magneto's methods extreme and violent, whereas Charles were more passive and focused internally on changing things. They have been compared in interviews before to the difference between Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. Charles also helps act as his moral compass, for his more heinous acts are committed after Charles dies right in front of him, and he's not thinking clearly any longer.

The other relationship is with Raven. Meeting her as a young woman, he helped her to overcome the insecurities she had with her natural blue form, and helped her to embrace her gifts instead. She became his loyal follower and the two worked together for many years, always having each other's backs and trusting each other implicitly.

One of Magneto's biggest flaws is his arrogance. Magneto rarely believes that anything he does is wrong or that he could possibly make the wrong decision. The X-men try to warn him his machine doesn't work and he stubbornly refuses to believe them. He doesn't listen when everyone around him is telling him that the Phoenix will destroy everything because she's unstable, and indeed, Jean almost destroys the entire world.

He does reach a point of being more humbled when he is forcibly cured of his powers. The very thing which has defined his life and divided him from humanity is taken from him, casting him on the level of the rest of homo sapiens. While he does eventually regain them between movies, it does help to give him some perspective on the fact that he's perhaps drifted a bit too far from the ideals he'd once held and followed.

By the time 2023 has rolled around and the world has become a terrible dystopia, Magneto has fully realized he was wrong about so many things. His extreme methods have gotten him nowhere. All that happened was that he's lost so many fellow mutants and human beings to the Sentinels. His species is on the verge of extinction and all he can do is hope that their last desperate attempt to change the past will work. He's become tired, for he realizes he should have gone about trying to change the world in a completely different method. There's a lot of what-ifs on his mind, wondering if he should have followed Charles' methods. It's worth noting that his last moments aren't spent in anger or hatred, instead, he uses his powers to try and protect the last of the mutants, including Charles. He laments that he spent so many years wasted rather than working with Charles.

Abilities/Powers/Weaknesses & Warping: A thorough list of his powers and abilities can be found here. For warping, while small metal items are still easy to use, larger ones become a game of random chance, with the odds going down the larger the item. So while he might be able to lift a car or throw a person as far as he can if the odds are in his favor, lifting the largest items he does in the series, a stadium or the Golden Gate Bridge, are going to be nearly impossible.

Inventory: One awesome outfit with cape, his helmet, a few small metal marbles.

Are you comfortable with prominent elements of fourth-walling?: Definitely. The X-men have their own comics in their canon, so it's already a part of it.
What themes of horror/psychological thrillers do you enjoy the most?: Messing with a character's head until they're left not knowing what's real and what isn't anymore, then putting them through the ringer a few more times to see how many times they can bounce back before completely shattering.
Is there anything in particular you absolutely need specific content warnings for?: Nothing.
